The good thing about writing is that in the fullness of time your true self will come out. Your real intentions will be revealed and thankfully the internet never forgets.
Nothing makes my heart sink more than seeing people who know what poverty means making excuses for the corrupt and those mismanaging our economy. The incessant influx of street vendors, hawkers, bodabodas, street families, the homeless etc is a clear testimony that all is not well.
Those of us who are victims of poverty have an everlasting duty to do all in our power and far beyond the extra mile to ensure abject poverty is defeated. It is a tragic deficit of ambition to imagine that abject poverty cannot be eliminated in our lifetime.
I detest this emerging elitism where some want to generalize their success and assume that just because they can now wash hands and dine at Sankara that all is well in this country. I will say it again that there is nothing to celebrate about being a drop of success in a sea of poverty.
An economic model/system defined by rare pockets of wealth amidst horrific poverty is unsustainable and untenable in the long-term.
The gap between the rich and the poor in a country can be revealed by the height of walls and the density of grills the rich have on their premises. The walls are getting taller and thicker and the gates higher and higher. Why are the rich engulfed in fear?
If opposing those uprooting the foundations of our economy is playing to the gallery then I will proudly parade and saunter on whatever gallery it is and wherever it will be. Love me or hate me. This is not a dating site.
