A story is told of Abraham Lincoln’s Letter to his son’s kindergarten teacher. In the letter he writes; “Teach him that 10 cents earned is of far more value than a dollar found or stolen... teach him that it is far more honorable to fail than to cheat. Teach him to gracefully lose, and enjoy winning when he does win." These are the ideals that we have failed as a society and a country to instil in our generation. It's no wonder we have a generation that value tokenism over self worth, especially in the ongoing debate on bottom-up economic module. The youth do not know that, their dreams and their future are contained in their daily routine. Whatever is not happening in your daily activities, don't expect it in your future, and vice verse. If you depends on tokens from the political class today, be certain your children will be worse than yourself. Therefore, it is irrational for anyone to believe that a person who made their fortune from a top-bottom stealing approach can turn the tables on this nations fortune. A person who doesn't own any known industry, production line, manufacturing company etc, has no capacity to discern how a bottom-up public policy can work. The principle of incremental growth states that small steps executed continually are more sustainable and fruitful than the huge leaps - as the bottoms-up approach tend to suggest. Sarah Harvey in her book, Kaizen, explains this Japanese principles of transforming habits one small step at a time. The bottom-up approach is ideally a trap. The people preaching this module are the ones you should never show where you get your bread; they will raid the bakery and kill the baker to ensure you beg to them on your knees. It happened in 90s when Mt Kenya economy was systematically killed to the advantage of another region. It can happen again in the future. If you want to know how your future will look like? Look at what you're doing with your potential right now. Your future will not depend on chances but choices. Our biggest tragedy will be allowing the political class to weaponize our economic situation today, with prophecies and ideals that never made them in the first place. Remember, he who controlled your past, can control your future. Be woke Kenyans.
